Rose
About the Rose
The most commercially valuable flower in the world - over 150 million roses sold for Valentines Day alone in the US. Cultivated for 5,000 years, originating in Asia. There are over 30,000 registered rose varieties. The worlds oldest living rose is 1,000+ years old, growing on the wall of Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany. Rose oil requires 60,000 roses to produce 30 ml. The War of the Roses (1455-1487) was named after white and red rose emblems of competing English houses.
