Cornflower
About the Cornflower
Once a common weed of grain fields across Europe, now much rarer because of herbicides. It is the national flower of Estonia. In France the bleuet is the flower of remembrance for veterans and the war dead. Its pure blue gave its name to the color cornflower blue. The flowers are edible and used in tea blends. It was the favorite flower of Queen Louise of Prussia and a symbol in German folklore.
