Begonia
About the Begonia
One of the largest genera of flowering plants, with around 2,000 species. Named after Michel Begon, a French official and patron of botany, by botanist Charles Plumier. Tuberous begonias produce large rose like flowers, while rex begonias are grown for their patterned leaves. Wax begonias are classic bedding plants. Most species grow in moist tropical forests. Male and female flowers grow separately on the same plant.
