Tulip (Parrot)
About the Tulip (Parrot)
Fringed, ruffled, and twisted petals that resemble parrot feathers. They are the most dramatic and flamboyant of all tulip types. They were highly prized during Tulip Mania. The feathery edges are caused by genetic mutations. They are sensitive to wind and rain, needing sheltered positions. They make spectacular but short-lived cut flowers. They are often bi-colored with striking patterns. They are among the last tulips to bloom in spring. They look best when planted in groups where their unusual shapes complement each other.
