Azalea

About the Azalea

Azaleas are flowering shrubs within the genus Rhododendron. They are among the most popular spring shrubs, especially in Japan and the American South. The Augusta National golf course is famous for its azaleas during the Masters. Their nectar contains grayanotoxins, and honey from some related species, known as mad honey, causes poisoning. They need acidic, well drained soil. Both evergreen and deciduous types exist.
