About the Climbing Hydrangea
One of the best climbing plants for shady walls. It attaches itself with aerial rootlets, requiring no support. It can take 3-5 years to establish but then grows vigorously. It produces lacecap white flower heads. It is deciduous with peeling cinnamon-colored bark that provides winter interest. It can grow 15+ meters. It is one of the few flowering vines for full shade. It is slow to start but virtually impossible to remove once established. It prefers north or east-facing walls. It is native to Japan and Korea.
